16th August 2025 TO ALL PUPILS AND PARENTS Information Regarding the Combined SMMC Centres Rehearsal Day 30 August 2025 (in preparation for the annual Town Hall concert two weeks later.) All pupils in our Dunedin Centres will meet at George Street Normal School on Saturday 30th August to rehearse for the Annual Demonstration Concert to be held in the Dunedin Town Hall on the afternoon of Sunday 14th September. This concert will end Term 3. What is happening this term? 23th August: Classes as normal 30th August: Combined rehearsal at George St Normal School - see bottom of this notice for timings and further information 6th September: Classes as normal 13th September: Another combined rehearsal at George St Normal School in preparation for the concert the following day. 14th September: The annual concert takes place in the Town Hall beginning at 3pm. (There will be a further notice nearer the time which will give details regarding the concert.) Our Term Four starting date is planned for October 11th. Mid-week classes start back in the first school week of Term 4. Combined rehearsal details George St Normal School, August 30, 2025 9:00am Junior Symphonia – Hall at 9:30 with Community Orchestra - Hall Symphonic Band - Room 10 (upstairs close to the hall) Training Orchestra -) Upstairs Learning Centre (usual place, main block) Bathgate Park/Mosgiel Orchestra – Room 14 (upstairs facing the street) Ukulele– Room 11or 12 (Upstairs deck of main block) 9:45am – in the Hall All pupils in the Hall for the Demonstration Concert Final item (“Pomp and Circumstance”). The Hall is the separate building at the back close to the main block. 10:30 – 11:00 Recorders followed by Recorder Consort at 11:00 (piano) – Models Block Music Room (models block is close to the dairy)Please enter by the doors facing Duke Street. Flute - Room 11 (by upstairs deck of main block) Oboe – Room 15 (upstairs main block) Clarinet - Room 16 (upstairs main block) Saxophone – Room 17 (upstairs main block) Brass – Rooms Model 2A/2B (downstairs main block) Percussion – Stay in the Hall Guitar – Room 13 and 14 (Upstairs facing the street) Listen and Learn Violin – Room 10 (upstairs closest to hall) Strings --Violin: Room 7; Double Bass: Room 9; Cello: downstairs Learning Centre beside the Library. (Rooms 9 and 7 are downstairs main in the main block) 11:00am Recorder Consort – Model Block Music Room (in the back room of the models block near the dairy) Guitar Ensemble – Room 13 (Can extend into Room 14 if necessary.) Singers (+ portable piano) – Room 10 (Upstairs, close to the Hall) 11:15:am Let’s Make Music –Hall
